Itinerary:

Day 1: April 29, 2021

Arrive Keflavik – Blue Lagoon – Reykjavik              

Welcome to Iceland! After meeting our representative from Tourcan Vacations and tour coach at Keflavík airport, begin your journey with a visit to the Blue Lagoon. Enjoy bathing and relaxing in Blue Lagoon’s geothermal seawater, known for its healing effects on the skin.

The Blue Lagoon Comfort Package includes:

  • Entrance to the lagoon and all other spa facilities, including changing rooms, the sauna, the steam bath, the relaxation area, and more.
  • Silica Mud Mask delivered at the Silica Bar inside the lagoon
  • Use of towel
  • 1 drink of your choice
  • Afterwards, continue to Reykjavík and check into your hotel. Please note that your rooms may not be ready until check-in at 3.00pm

Day 2: April 30, 2021

Geysir – Gullfoss – Skogar – Dyrholaey - Vik                                  

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and check out. Start the day with a short city sightseeing tour of Reykjavik. From Reykjavik, head over the Hellisheidi Pass and through the pretty greenhouse village of Hveragerdi, gateway to South Iceland. Head on to the Golden Circle natural wonders. Explore Gullfoss, the "Golden Waterfall" and the nearby Geysir hot spring area to see the famous Geysir and Strokkur, as well as numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue along the south shore and stop to admire the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss before continuing to Dyrholaey nature reserve. Drive along the coast to the village of Vik.

Day 3: May 1, 2021

Vik – Skaftafell National Park – Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon – Höfn                    

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and check out. Continue your journey along the Ring Road. Cross Eldhraun, the largest lava flow recorded on the planet in historical times. Visit Kirkjubaejarklaustur town, the former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skeidararsandur sands to Skaftafell, a beautiful glacial area within Vatnajokull National Park. Continue to the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon to see the birthplace of icebergs.  Included is an exciting boat trip on the lagoon in one of four amphibian boats. During the excursion you sail among the huge icebergs in the picturesque scenery of Jökulsárlón. On the boat you get to taste the 1,000 year old ice and if you are lucky you might even see some seals. As you head east, you will continue to enjoy magnificent views of mighty Vatnajokull, Europe‘s largest glacier. Your destination is Höfn, a seacoast village located near the glacier.

Day 4: May 2, 2021

Höfn – East Fjords – Egilsstadir                              

Breakfast at your hotel. Today you will enjoy amazing scenery as you head from glacial landscapes to fjord views. Drive from Höfn through Almannaskard pass, stopping to admire the majestic coastline. Head into the magnificent East Fjords with its views of towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea. Pass through coastal fjord villages on your way to Egilsstadir.

Day 5: May 3, 2021

Lake Mývatn Area                                 

Breakfast at your hotel. Explore the wilderness vastness of the Mödrudalsoræfi highland desert plateau as you head towards the Lake Mývatn area. On the way, stop at Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall. Continue onwards to Námaskard pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colours. Explore the natural beauty of the volcanic Lake Mývatn area, including the pseudo craters at Skútustadir and the Laxá Salmon River. One of the Mývatn area's claims to fame is that it is home to more species of ducks than any other place on Earth, with very diverse birdlife in general. We will also make a stop at Myvatn Nature Baths.  In a volcanic setting among steaming hills, bathers can enjoy the ultimate natural outdoor spa experience at the Myvatn Nature Baths in northern Iceland. This open-air pool of aquamarine blue gets its water from a local geothermal source and contains a unique mixture of minerals, silicates and micro-organisms that are soothing and relaxing for the skin. The temperature is maintained at a comfortable 38-40°C (100-104°F) in the main bathing area and there are also hot tubs and three saunas available for those who like it really hot. Opened in June 2004, Myvatn Nature Baths offer guests a completely natural experience in an area of fragile beauty.

After the tour you will be transferred to your hotel where you will check in and enjoy dinner.

Day 6: May 4, 2021

Lake Mývatn Area - Akureyri – Siglufjördur                   

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and check out. Start the day by exploring the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir. Visit the magnificent Godafoss waterfall and the Laufás turf farm museum, Afterwards; visit Akureyri, the colourful northern capital of Iceland. The town has charming buildings and a beautiful view of the Eyjafjördur Fjord. After spending some time in Akureyri, continue along the coastal roads of Eyjafjördur and the Troll Peninsula. This is a beautiful drive along steep mountains with amazing views over the Arctic Sea and black sand coastline. The destination is Siglufjordur, set in a beautiful fjord of the same name. This town has some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory.

Check into the hotel upon arrival and enjoy dinner.

Day 7: May 5, 2021

Skagafjordur – Borgarnes                               

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. This morning visit Siglufjördur‘s award-winning Herring-Era Museum. The museum recreates the atmosphere of the early 20th century, when tiny Siglufjördur was transformed into a herring boom town, thanks to a large migration of herring. Afterwards, head along majestic mountains and narrow passes leading to historical Skagafjördur, considered to be one of the finest places in Iceland for horse breeding. Enjoy an introduction to the unique Icelandic horse breed with its special fifth gait - the tolt. Continue through north Iceland towards the village of Blönduós built on both sides of the river Blanda. Hrútey Island, a protected nature reserve, sits within the centre of this popular Salmon River. Cross the moors of Holtavörduheidi plateau, and drive through Borgarfjördur to the beautiful town of Borgarnes.

Day 8: May 6, 2021

Borgarfjördur – Thingvellir – Reykjavik           

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Drive to Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot springs in Europe. Stop to admire the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls before continuing via Hvalfjördur fjord to Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest lake, and Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO heritage site is where the world‘s oldest continuing parliamentary government was founded in the 10th century. It is also the place where the North American and European tectonic plates meet.

Check into the hotel upon arrival and tonight we will all meet for our Farewell Dinner.

Day 9: May 7, 2021

Departure           

Gather your belongings and check out of the hotel. You will be transferred with a driver only to Keflavík Airport where your tour ends. From here you will board your home-bound flight.
